In the spring semester of 2019, a survey was released among students in the university regarding their ability to access and purchase food. About 24% of people on our campus responded to say that they considered themselves “food insecure.”
The Eagle Resource Closet is a space established for the UMW community by passionate students, faculty and staff. In the attic of Lee Hall, shelves are filled with food, toiletries, clothing and other necessities donated by faculty, staff, students and many others who wish to help our cause.
Our main goal is to eliminate food insecurity within the UMW community. Volunteers may come to help organize, collect and take inventory of supplies, as well as help with the numerous projects that go on during the school semester.
Pick-up times slots are between 1-3pm and 4-6pm, Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Please see “place an order” in the menu more for details.
You can bring food items over the Center for Community Engagement (Suite 320 in the University Center) if you would like to donate. Also, here is a list of our most needed items to help guide your donations.
We are located in the attic of Lee Hall. Take the elevator on the left side (the side closest to Monroe Hall), push the button for “A”, and it will take you there.
